Jewellery not Mine: Minissha Lamba

Actress Minissha Lamba, who was detained at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport on Wednesday for carrying undeclared jewellery worth 35 to 50 lakh, defends herself by claiming that the jewellery doesn’t belong to her.

During the 16-hour grilling by custom officials, Minissha claimed that the jewellery was not hers and was used only for promotional purpose at Cannes Film Festival. She said she carried the diamond jewellery from Mumbai and brought it back, but was not aware of the rule that she had to declare it to custom officials.

“The actress has claimed she does not own the jewellery found in her possession. During her questioning, we have been told that the ornaments belong to a jewellery brand and were given to her purely for promotional purpose,” a customs official is quoted as saying by a news agency.
